This morning, when I should have been at work, I was watching Elder, one of these daytime talk shows. They had a couple, the man had cheated on this woman several times, and she was emotionally distraught, but still wanted to marry him, wanted to make him commit. Then they had another couple, the woman had cheated on her husband four times, but he was still trying to work it out with her. I was a little amazed. If your significant other cheats, repeatedly, then what's to work out? Leave him and find someone else. What's the problem? You may be in love, but you can fall in love again. These people seemed to have emotional problems, unable to do the obvious thing.
Then I start thinking, is this what's wrong with me, that I find it too easy to walk away from a relationship? Is this why so many marriages fail? Isn't love supposed to be all-encompassing, willing to take any abuse, holding steadfast to forever no matter what? I don't know, maybe I'm the one with problems.
Today I ordered dinner over the internet (using
www.SeamlessWeb.com, the best way to order food) from a vegetarian place called Zenith that sounded vaguely familliar. As I was halfway into my spinach-wrapped-in-noodley-thing-with-sweet-and-sour-sauce, I suddenly recognized those little rolls. I had stumbled upon Zenith when visiting NYC with
Keng-hui, a lifetime ago, and ordered this very dish. That was the first time I really explored the city, and fell in love with it. Such memories, that cafe in Soho, the park bench in TriBeCa... sigh...
